It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Premium Carp Fishing since my last report, especially with the preparation and planning needed for the TeamPCF social, that we held last weekend at Holme Fen Fishery. We had a great turnout of team members which meant we had 15 or so teams competing against each other for some great prizes, and a chance to have a good time and raise a few bob for charity.

The weather was not great for fishing but for the social and swim draw on Friday and the Saturday afternoon bar-b-que it was perfect! Tom Baker and Jack Smith won the event with Tom catching Mirrors of 24lb, 35lb 6oz and new personnel best of 45lb 8oz, Jack chipped in with a mirror weighing 36lb 12oz which was also a personnel best. Second place went to the young guns George Fenner and Josh Lowe who elected to fish on Poachers Pool and bagged fish of 29lb, 26lb, 22lb and a new PB for Josh at 35lb and a new Lake record for Poachers Pool. Third place went to Alan Sharp and Steve Grantham with Alan catching a 39lb 12oz Mirror on the first night.

The raffle and donations raised a very respectable amount of cash totaling nearly eight hundred pounds, with half donated to McMillan cancer and the other half to the East Anglia children’s hospice, a great effort by all concerned and a brilliant weekend.

A few nice fish have been putting in an appearance at Woodpecker Lake with Ian Harle catching a Mirror at 39lb 8oz which had not been out since last November! Ian fished on the edge of a gully at 100 yards that and baited with 14mm Coco Fruit boilies and fished matching pop-ups over the top.

Abbey Lake has been producing consistently and Adrian Darby took full advantage last weekend bagging 9 fish including several twenties again on the PCF Coco Fruit.

Willow Lake at Fenland Fisheries is still producing the goods with the one of the best catches falling to Wayne Esberger who banked fish of 24lb, 33lb 15oz and Frisby at 41lb 4oz. Willow Lake is almost full for October but surprisingly there are a good few slots available for November which in my humble opinion and based on recent years, is possibly the best month. To book ring the shop on 01487 841858, the same applies for Vermuyden Lake on the same site which is fishing its head off at the moment. We are expecting some great results as autumn kicks in from all our venues, so keep a eye out for our regular reports in Carp Talk.
