Welcome to our first report of the New Year, the sun is out and the days are getting longer and there has been a noticeable increase in telephone calls and e-mails, as the anticipation builds for the upcoming warmer spring weather. Bookings for our fisheries as usual have been manic, to say the least and as a result I can inform you that all weekend sessions at Fenland Fisheries- Willow Lake up to September have been filled, a few mid week spaces remain and can be booked by calling the shop on 01487 841858 . Vermuyden Lake at Fenland Fisheries is fishing very well at the moment and spaces are available, don’t forget that for night fishing on this venue you must book by calling the above number.

Abbey Lake is also fully booked for weekend sessions until the beginning of November, again a few mid week slots are available for mid/late summer sessions, see web-site for details. Greenacres is filling up fast and anyone wishing to book onto this venue should contact Dave Mennie as soon as possible on 07738 754764. Our syndicate water, Woodpecker Lake at Earith Lakes Fisheries is now full for this year; a waiting list is in operation, and again please sees our web-site for details.

Our Whittle Mere syndicate at Tea Kettle Fisheries is likely to have a few spaces for the upcoming season, starting on the 1st of May, for details go to the contacts page on the web-site and register your interest. Our new water Holme Fen Fisheries is now taking advance bookings for the opening in July. Due to the amount of press this water has received and the extremely large number of thirty and forty pound Carp caught during the test fishing last Autumn, demand for places will be high !

You can book on-line at www.holmefenfishery.co.uk

As most of our waters have been closed for the winter, catch reports have been a bit thin on the ground, however No Publicity Nobby had a great session on Woodpecker lake, catching a stunning 39lb Mirror and a couple of mid twenties, The lake was frozen and Nobby had to tie a lump of 4×2 timber to his spod rod, to break the ice, when he woke in the morning to find his lines trapped under the ice , not long after the big one was in the bottom of his net!

Also on Woodpecker lake new syndicate member Rob Evans caught a 34lb plus Mirror known as Jake, which is one of the original fish.
