What an amazing January it’s been for captures from PCF waters despite most of them being closed for a winter break! The lakes that have remained open are producing good numbers of fish and a combination of work party and trial fishing on the others has produced some very good catches as the unseasonal weather continues.
At our Woodpecker Lake syndicate the highlight was Nobby catching a 42-02 Mirror, the same fish he caught at 39lb from under the ice last Jan. This time it was caught from a clear channel beside a reed bed at 110yards following four spombs of chopped bait. The fish was the biggest of four during a 2 day session after moving to showing fish from the other side of the lake. Other fish 23lb 2oz 21lb 2oz and 19lb 8oz. Great Angling Nobby.
Some of our TeamPCF guys have just started some trial fishing on the soon to be opened Poachers Pool, which is part of the Holme Fen Fishery complex. First Team member to take advantage of a free bit of angling was Justin Webb, who banked three thirties to 34-06 and a mid twenty Mirror in 24 hours using bait from the PCF range. Poachers Pool is an intimate 4.5 acre lake which is thought to hold 30 fish over 30lb and opens on March 14th 2016 on a whole lake booking basis for up to 3 anglers. To book go to the on-line booking section at www.holmefenfishery.co.uk More results from the trial fishing in my next report.

Willow Lake at Fenland Fisheries is closed until March the 14th but bookings can still be made for this year by calling the shop on 01487 841 858 weekdays between 9am and 5pm , i was there yesterday and I can tell you the book is looking very busy already so don’t leave it too long. Just before Willow Lake closed for the winter break TeamPCF member Craig Rayner had his usual early Jan sessions and as normal banked some great fish including Frisby at over 40lb , another January forty for Craig!

Vermuyden Lake on the same complex is still open and producing some great results, for night sessions ring the shop on the above number.
A number of anglers fished The Meadows at Holme Fen Fishery following a work party just after Xmas. It is the first time we have tried winter fishing on the lake (although weather was very mild) and we had some great results. The group managed six 40lb plus fish between them with Neil Bland netting the largest at 46-07. Ben Wales netted four at 45-05, 43-15, 41-06 & 40-02 and Nobby had a 40-02, all of which have featured in Carp Talk previous issues. The lake re-opens on March 14th and the booking system is now open at www.holmefenfishery.co.uk

Abbey Lake is also closed but a few TeamPCF members have had a daytime dabble including Dan Hadman who fished on a mild windy day to bank 6 Carp to mid twenties using his favourite PCF Custard Toppers and Harry Darby also did a day session and banked a nice mid twenty from along the reed line in very shallow water using the Coco Fruit. Not much fishing going on at our Whittle Mere syndicate on Teakettle Fisheries near Peterborough however Dan Seagar managed a 24-7 at the weekend and Paul Fitzjon also banked a 24lb Mirror. We may have a few places available on this syndicate for the coming season, to register your interest go to the website for details.
